“Get some ‘me time’ this Christmas”

My brief was to sell UKTV Play as your go-to on-demand service to escape Christmas and get some ‘me time’.  The starting point was finding a campaign insight with edge – the truth that, really, everyone is sick of their family by about 11am on Christmas Day and desperate to slink away and hide somewhere.  I then wanted to execute that insight in a way which built on our brand work earlier in 2016, adding personality and humour.  Joe Wilkinson (8 Out Of Ten Cats, Taskmaster) was cast as the Santa character, and we delivered two different promo executions from a one-day shoot.  In addition, we shot twenty-four bespoke content intros for a digital advent calendar promoting the service across the ’24 Plays Of Christmas’.
